we’ve just created our own bandcamp page where you can download free music from the folks in holly house. right now all we have are the tunes from the American Songwriter sessions, but check back for new music soon. it’s gonna be radtastic.
Back in August, American Songwriter asked Holly House to participate in their “On My Deathbed” contest. Each band in Holly House was asked to record the song they would like to hear on their deathbed.
On September 20, 2009, all five bands piled into Eastwood Salon for a marathon day of recording. Steve Martin was at the helm pushing the faders (and he did a marvelous job). Beer was drank, pizza was eaten, and jams were had. For 7 straight hours everyone put their nose to the grindstone whilst plucking and vocalizing. At the end of the day, all were exhausted but pleased with the results.
And now, without further ado….. here are the tracks:
and the relatives – Be Here to Love Me (Feat. Caitlin Rose) (Townes Van Zandt Cover)
Caitlin Rose – You Are My Sunshine (Jimmie Davis Cover)
Eureka Gold – I Go to Sleep (The Kinks Cover)
Shoot the Mountain – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel Cover)
Tristen – On and On and On (Skeeter Davis Cover)
As an added bonus, here are some new originals from a few of the bands recorded the same day:
and the relatives – fourth rate
Caitlin Rose – Shangai Cigarettes
Shoot the Mountain – As It Goes
~with love and admiration from your friends at Holly House

This video was shot in East Nashville, Tennessee by Jeff Wyatt Wilson of Wilson Independent as part of our “Can Video Revive The Radio Star” feature in the Sept/Oct 2009 issue of American Songwriter magazine. Local Nashville singer-songwriter Tristen and friends star in this fine example of how independent artists are using video to market their music in new ways online. Enjoy…
(this video is stock full of holly house goodness with non-commissioned officer and cctv frontman eric “hold the beans” lehning, all around badass cellist larissa “i hate hairy feet” maestro, the “songstress with the mostest” tristen, eureka gold front dude buddy “don’t call it a bagette” hughen, and and the relatives drummist d. patrick d. roddy rodgers. like they sez, stick that in yo pipe and take a bath!)
