After almost a year in production, and the relatives release Green Machinery today. It features the incredible talents of Arlo Hall, Caitlin Rose, Tristen, Jordan Caress, Buddy Hughen, Larissa Maestro, and Dan Sommers. You can purchase the entire album digitally for $3 at their Bandcamp site. Keep in mind that the record was produced with vinyl in mind, and that the band thinks that it is the best way to hear the songs. You can buy the Limited Edition vinyl from their Bandcamp site or from Grimey’s New & Preloved Music for $10. The band plans to release 3 videos to accompany the record in the next month or so.
We at Holly House are very excited. Caitlin Rose’s debut LP Own Side Now finally has a set UK release date of August 24, 2010.
So, that means you want to go ahead and reserve your copy right? Right. Hop on over to Rough Trade or Amazon to pre-order your copy now because you want to be the first on your block with the LP right? Right.
We’ll post a MP3 of this delicious record once it’s been released, so keep an eye out folks!
A few weeks ago I got turned on to a great band from Vancouver BC, The Good News. The lead singer reminds me of Craig Finn from The Hold Steady while the music is some solid kick ass pop. Driving songs with super hooky choruses are just a couple of this group’s strengths.
Here are a couple of my favorite songs:
The Good News – Backstage Underage
The Good News – It’s Too Soon To Call
Hopefully I’ll be able to catch one of their shows when I’m in Vancouver later this summer.
(ps While looking for a pic of the band, I came across this blog post which had posted the same songs as I have here. Funny and coincidental, but I swear I picked these out of the 2 EPs I got. I guess we just have similar taste :) The video I did find there.)
we’ve just created our own bandcamp page where you can download free music from the folks in holly house. right now all we have are the tunes from the American Songwriter sessions, but check back for new music soon. it’s gonna be radtastic.
Tomorrow is April 17th and that means it’s Record Store Day. We think you should scoot your tush on down to Grimey’s and pick up some rad tuneage. They’re gonna have sales, bands playing, beer, and all kind of good times.
We recommend you get there a little before 1 PM and check out Bows and Arrows. We’ve seen them a couple of times and they’re really good. Pick up their brand new 7″ Let’s Take On the Night while you’re at it. Here’s the opening track from the record.
